Emily and Ross had such a lovely wedding at Ashfield House. They’re clearly incredibly close, but what really came across throughout the day was how close they are to the people around them too. Emily and her sister Megan have such a lovely relationship, and Megan’s speech was a real highlight. Ross’s speech went slightly more off-piste when he started talking about his favourite Chinese takeaway (including his actual order) which made perfect sense to the people who knew and was very funny to everyone else.
Ashfield House is genuinely one of our favourite places to work. We photograph weddings there a lot and, at this point, I pretty much feel like a member of the team when I walk through the door. The staff are amazing! They go above and beyond every single time to make sure everything runs as perfectly as possible, while making the couple and their guests feel completely at home.
And that’s probably what we love most about Ashfield. For the time you’re there, the whole house feels like it’s yours; It’s beautiful, but it’s comfortable too. You can settle into the sofas, fill the rooms with your own people and decorate it however you want. It never feels like you’re simply hiring a wedding venue for the day.
Emily and Ross made it look incredible. AM Flowers took care of the flowers and venue décor, and they’re another team we recommend without hesitation. Angela, Julie and Brian work at Ashfield regularly and they really listen to their couples. Whatever the brief is, they seem to get it spot on, and we’ve genuinely never heard a bad word said about them.
Emily looked absolutely incredible. Her dress suited her perfectly and she just looked amazing in it. It was from Emma Louise Bridal, and we always seem to see gorgeous dresses coming from them, they clearly know how to help their brides find something that really works for them.
Emily and Ross had also arranged a surprise singing waiter for their guests, which nobody was expecting and completely changed the pace of the day for a while. And when he belted out Nessun Dorma for the encore – Chef’s kiss! Those unexpected bits are always brilliant to photograph because you get everyone’s real reactions rather than anything staged.
It’s not often we specifically shout out a cake in a blog, but this one definitely deserves it. It looked amazing, tasted fantastic, and Lisa Marie Cakes always does such a good job. If we know it’s one of Lisa’s cakes, we make sure we nab a piece at the end of the night.
A huge thank you to Emily and Ross for choosing us to photograph it all. We had such a lovely day with you, your families and everyone at Ashfield House.
